Alternative Spring Break trip to Jamaica in the past with center of university that coordinates Greek Life, student government, and other co-curricular activities.

Past Projects

At Boise State University, there are over 40 classes and 80 to 90 community partners. One project centers around an engineering class that has a special lab assignment to design projects that can help people with disabilities in their daily life. Some products student shave made have helped people put on clothing, maneuver a camera on a wheelchair, or use the bathroom independently.

“Students enjoy having a problem to solve,” commented Jillana Finnegan, Student Support Coordinator of the Service-Learning Program. “It is something unique.”

Campus Profile

A community partnership coordinator, who cultivates relationships with community partners, supports service-learning at Boise State. Boise State believes that service learning allows students to explore news careers. It also gives them the professional skills they need in the working world.

“Assessment data every semester demonstrates that service-learning helps students learn the content, they are more motivated to solve community problems,” discussed Finnegan. “Why is service learning important? It does so much on different aspects, achieve so many goals in one effort.”
